Vahista Dastoor wields the camera to get her point across when she is not documenting child rights, mental health or gender related issues.

Rudra Kishore Mandal is a painter and freelance graphic designer and calls his artistic quest Rudrascape (rudrascape.blogspot.in).

Anupam Hazra has a performative gender identity and a multiple wish list - social work, project management, sex work, dancing, painting, making costume jewellery, acting, chewing paan, being drunk . . . unfortunately or thankfully most of the time ze is unable to be and do all of it simultaneously.

Paramita Banerjee is a black coffee-loving, living-in-the-moment, do-it-yourself social activist and writer.

Pawan Dhall aspires to be a rainbow journalist and believes in taking a stand, even if it’s on the fence – the view is better from there!

  1. WOW! This set is lovely... I found Rudra painted so well only some time back, despite having known him since he was no more than a teenager. I wish him well... I am sure he will become a celebrated painter in time to come. I vote him the next Picasso... or would that be Cezanne... Warhol? Not Hussain, for that would mean exile... and not van Gogh... for that would mean that he would have to be as crazy as I am... :-D ...owais

  2. I just had the opportunity to see Varta...I being a journalist and a painter feel that the issues Varta's dealing with are something really important...I just went through the write-up by Sukhdeep Singh..its fantastic...the paintings by Rudra Kishore Mandal are so enriching and must say that Pawan's boatman and Paramita Banerjee's photograph, most probably taken just before the dusk are fantastic!!! Would wait to see more of such stuff and wishing Varta and its team every succes in days to come...Regards, Amitabha Sengupta
